Producer and Rapper Deric “D-Dot” Angelettie
Deric is best-known for his work with the production team The Hitmen,
Bad Boy’s in-house producers who created the sound that took over the
world in the mid-90’s. Deric produced hits like “All About the
Benjamins,” “Hypnotize,” “Where I’m From,” and more. He also served as
Bad Boy’s comic outlet with his skits and verses as The Mad Rapper
But before all that, Deric was rapping under the name D.O.P. in a
fantastic duo called Two Kings in a Cipher. They released one album in
1991, and you can check it out on RG
Enjoy our wide-ranging conversation with Deric, where he tells us
about the Bad Boy glory years, coaching Jay-Z and Eminem, the birth of
the Mad Rapper, why Kool Herc IS NOT the father of hip-hop, and tons
more!
